Budgie Toys No.212

Personnel & Equipment Carrier (British Army)

Issued 1959-61    Length 104mm

No.212 was the last of the three Personnel & Equipment Carriers. It was painted in British Army green including the base and metal wheels and like the others was fitted with knobbly tyres. On the front and rear mudguards decals depicting a yellow and red regimental square were attached.

The plastic canopy of the British Army Carrier was light brown or tan. Like the others, it fitted into the load area with a lug in each corner.

Originally planned as a model in the Morestone Series, the base initially did not include any Budgie id., but on later models 'A Budgie Toy' was added to the lettering.

The boxes did not have numbers but instead had the words '(British Army)' on each end-flap (A1).  It had no upgrade to a numbered box.

The British Army Carrier is quite common despite being in production for only 2 years but it is often in playworn condition. It is also prone to a touch of metal fatigue and so mint models are scarce.
