Budgie Catalogues & Leaflets
LEAFLETS :
CATALOGUES :
With the launch of Budgie Toys in 1959, Morris & Stone began producing full-colour leaflets to include in the boxes of all the new range of toys. To start with these included a limited selection of models and the leaflets were printed on one side only but within a year two-sided brightly printed inserts became the standard leaflet.
In 1960 Morris & Stone moved their office headquarters from Stoke Newington in London to St Albans. Later in 1961 the business was sold to S Guiterman & Sons. On several issues of the leaflets and catalogues these names and addresses are included relecting the changes to the company.
To get the name of Budgie Toys widely known, bigger fold-out colour catalogues and posters were issued covering not only large-scale models but also Budgie Miniatures which had grown out of the earlier Esso Petrol Pump Series. Sometimes the catalogues included models linked to the Noddy books or the TV Series Wagon Train.
Budgie catalogues are rare items but the colour leaflets are easier to find. Some of the early ones have several variations but later leaflets were standarised and printed in large numbers.
