Budgie Toys No.456/T.T.

T.T.Racer

Around 1958, Morris & Stone replaced the Morestone Motorcycles with a new casting ready for the launch of the Budgie Toys range. These were used for the AA & RAC Motorcycle Patrols and the four Solo Motorcycles. Unlike their coloured predecessors, the Solo models were issued in a bright chrome finish with plastic riders. The fourth of these was the T.T. Racer.

The new Budgie model was chrome all over with unpainted metal wheels and black tyres. 'Made in England' was cast on the left side below the seat. For the TT version, the plastic rider was white with a red helmet, black gloves and boots. The face and head was painted pink.

In 1964 the model was upgraded to a new casting of a Triumph motorcycle which continued to be chrome with unpainted wheels and black tyres. The rider remained white plastic with a red helmet and black gloves and boots, and pink face and head trim.

Boxes for the TT Racer utilised the old Morestone Series (Morris & Stone) design at first with the number '456/TT' added to the end-flap details. Later, when Guiterman took over ownership, the Morestone boxes continued but the end-flaps were changed to read 'Made in England by a member of the Guiterman Group No.456/TT'.

Eventually the Morestone boxes were replaced by yellow 'Budgie Models' ones carrying a picture of the Budgie model with the number and model name on the end-flaps (B1). There was no upgrade when the Triumph model was issued.

Along with all the Solo Motorcyles, production of the TT Racer ended in 1966.
