Benbros Zebra Toys
Solo Motorcycles
Benbros created a new series of Solo Motorcycles for the Zebra Toys range based on a Triumph bike. Like the Qualitoys series, there were four different versions but all used the same motorcycle model.
Being a new casting, the Triumph motorcycle had several improvements including much better detail and the 'Triumph' name on each side of the fuel tank. There was also a new number 'ENT 303' on both front and rear plates. The wheels were spoked unpainted metal with black tyres.
All the Zebra Toys Solo Motorcycles were painted chrome-silver so the only differences between the four versions was the colour of the plastic rider and the illustrations and name on the box they were packed in.
The coloured plastic riders were stocky figures with 'pegs' on the insides of their legs to secure them onto the motorcycles. The figures were also used for the AA and RAC Patrol models. All colour versions were trimmed with pink faces and black goggles.
The four Zebra Toys Solo Motorcycles were
No.1 Police Patrol - dark-blue rider
No.2 Rally Rider - red rider
No.3 Army Despatch - brown rider
No.4 Telegraph Boy - blue rider
Surprisingly, the Zebra Toys Solo Motorcyles are hard to find and the boxes are rare.
