No.063 Commer Van
Dublo Dinky 063 Commer Van

Issued 1958-1960   1:76 scale   OO/HO gauge

The Commer Van was not the first commercial vehicle which Dinky added to the Dublo range, that honour went to the Austin Lorry, but in keeping with the intention of complimenting OO/HO railway layouts, the van was a useful addition. It was based on the Commer Express delivery van but as a model it was not especially exciting, nor was the colour chosen for it.

Using the straightforward design of a body and base, the Commer Van was however a well cast model with good detail. It was always painted blue with silver trim on the grille, headlights and front bumper.

The tinplate base had a tab at the rear (representing a number-plate), a rivet at the front, and the usual flanges for the axles. 'Dublo Dinky Toys Meccano Made in England' was included on the base with 'Commer' added at the rear.

The wheels of the Commer were always smooth grey plastic.

As with other early Dublo models, the Commer Van had a bright yellow end-flap box with red banding at each end and pictures of the van on both faces. There was no known upgrade.

Plenty of examples of this model can be found and they are often in good condition.
