Benbros Qualitoys
Westerner Hip Gun
Toy guns were sold during the 1950's by most toymakers and this elaborate example was issued by Benbros. It is not known if it was manufactured by Benbros or by another toy company but it was sold under the 'Qualitoys' name. The date of issue is unknown.
Little is known about the Westerner Gun except that it was a combination of diecast and plastic and could fire 'bullets' and caps making it probably a rather dangerous toy for small children!
The cream coloured lidded box was mostly plain with 'Westerner Hip Gun' printed in blue and a line drawing of the model in one corner of the lid with 'Cap Cartridge Loading' beneath it. In the opposite corner was the 'Benbros Qualitoys' logo. On the underside of the lower half of the box Benbros printed instructions on how to operate it.
The Westerner Hip Gun was probably not a big seller because it is now a very rare item.
